Task
You and your fellow students will travel trough time to explore the Olympics from Ancient Greece through the present and the future. You will be divided into six groups and each one will be sent back in different eras in the past.
You will ask and answer questions as you travel through your selected time period.
- Where did the Olympic games come from?
- Why were they held at Olympia?
- Were women allowed at the Olympics?
- What prizes did Olympic victors get?
- Who were the Olympic judges?
- Where did the marathon come from?
- Why do think women were not allowed to participate in the Games? How do you feel about that?
- Who was Pierre de Coubertin?
- How have the Olympics changed through the last hundred years?
- Do you think that the modern Olympics are becoming increasingly politicized?
- Is there a future for the Olympic games or they are going to be lost forever?
- Search for connections between past, present and future.
Your teams data will be become an important element in the final Olympic Timeline that the class as a whole is going to create. Each team should also create its part of the Power Point presentation that will present the Olympic games through out the years.
