Athens 2004
In 2004, we will all be in Athens, and we will live the Dream. We will feel our hearts pounding with emotion, frustration and joy. Together we will create new moments of greatness.
During 17 days of August 2004, athletes from nearly 200 countries will compete in 28 sports in 296 events. About 11,000 men and women, accompanied by 5,000 trainers, physiotherapists and team leaders etc. will take part in the Games.
Consider the following questions during your research:
- What advances in technology over the last four years might affect the Olympic experience for those who will not attend the Olympic games in Athens?
- Would athletes today be able to compete with the athletes from the first Olympic games?
- What strengths other than physical, are required to compete at that level?
